Hawaiian salt water Opihi Contemporary
These where picked near the leper colony on the island of Molokai.  Only the access to this area is by boat.  During the summer months of May to August are the only safe times to pick these shells.  This style is featured with the leather straps and each shell has it’s own personality and custom features.  The price range on these are depending on size and quality from $30 to $50 each.

These fresh water limpets are found in the remote areas of Molokai.  Molokai is known to have the largest of these shells in the state of Hawaii.  To find these shells Frank travels by boat in the summer months and hikes deep into the river valleys.  These shells are polished by hand and glossed to a deep rich original color.  The price range on these again is dependent on size, large or small from $15 to $30.

The seeds where used by only the Hawaiian royalty in historic times.  Hawaiian red false WiliWili seeds are cured and polished individually with Frank’s craftsmanship of bringing the old to the new.  The seeds range in color from deep reds to dark black purple (Haole false wiliwili).  These leis are combined with new ideas of handcrafted turtles, porpoise, nehneh birds and stingrays on Opihi shells.  Price range of $150 + with the seeds and from $500 to $1,800 for the puka shell and Kupe’ee shell lei.
